Epic Recipe for Breastfeeding Moms

A No-Bake Sweet That Supports Breastmilk Production!

Want a quick, delicious, one-handed snack that's good for both you and your baby?

The secret ingredient is flaxseed. Flaxseed has phytoestrogens that can influence breast milk production. Flaxseed also contains essential omega-3 fatty acids which may help alleviate postpartum depressive symptoms. Also, two tablespoons of flaxseed has 3g fiber, 3g protein as well as calcium and iron. Enjoy its yumminess and reap the benefits too!

This recipe is gluten free and can be made vegan. It's also 100% fantastic for everyone in your home! Grab a couple on the go or settle in with a cup of tea and enjoy.

(Adapted from Trader Joe's Organic Flaxseed Meal.)

NO BAKE ENERGY BITES

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup chocolate chips, carob chips or dairy-free chocolate chips

1/2 cup ground flaxseed meal

1/2 crunchy peanut butter, almond butter or sunButter

1/3 cup honey, maple syrup or agave

1 tsp. vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients together in a bowl. With your hands, form into 1" balls. (You may have to wet your hands to avoid it sticking). Arrange bites on a baking sheet and freeze until set - just under an hour. If they end up staying in the freezer longer, just have them soften on the counter for a few minutes. Store in a sealed container, in the refrigerator. Enjoy!
